The Teton Burnt Terracotta Pot is handmade in India using traditional pottery wheels and wood fired kilns. Their characteristic hazy matte-black hue is created by double firing the terracotta. In the second firing, the primitive fire kiln is covered with sand, causing smoke to transform classic orange terracotta to coveted moody black. Small in stature with characterful handles, we love to use this piece as a desk organizer for favourite pens, or to display a posy of dried flowers. Unglazed terracotta is porous and should not be used to hold water.
